Swans Down Cake Mixes and Gravy Train Dog Food
Listed on the back of the grocery store booklets as part of the General Foods football promotion were Swans Down Cake Mixes (Flours) and Gravy Train dog food. If a patron purchased at least three Swans Down Cake Mix boxes, they would also receive what amounted to light cardboard cutouts to be used to decorate their cake in a football motif. Gravy Train was considered by General Foods as part of the football promotion as its inclusion in most newspaper advertising indicates. For all practical purposes, Gravy Train was an even more distant cousin than Swans Down, as the only collectible part of the football promotion was a goalpost stick sign promoting Gravy Train dog food.
