Panel Card Data

There are 81 individual panels that comprise the non-duplicated portion of the cards in the 1962 Post cereal football card promotion. Those 81 panels are made up of 412 individual cards. As discussed previously, Raisin Bran 14 oz. cards of Andy Robustelli and Raymond Berry were printed on two separate RB14 oz. boxes. Accounting for this duplication brings the non-duplicated card total to 410. A card sample size of 9585 is enough to draw some conclusions, one of which is that even at that sample size comparing low demand card totals with high demand cards is inequitable. Further, factor in that many low demand cards weren't counted because they were part of lots and one quickly understands that raw individual card sales numbers is an inadequate method on which to base conclusions.

A better approach might be to combine the individual cards from each panel into totals for all 81 panels. The following table shows counts for each panel sorted by count— shown on the left—and sorted alphabetically for reference at right. The nomenclature used to denote the individual cereal product panel is (left to right) the brand (i.e. GN for Grape Nuts), the size in ounces and the last three numbers indicate the number of the first card on the panel with leading zeros presented. The next page will present combined cereal product totals.
